There was a fifty percent success for NCEL teams in this midweek's FA Vase Second Round Qualifying Replays. Of the four sides in action, two will take their place in the First Round Proper on the 6th of October.
Armthorpe Welfare had a long trip to the North East to face Chester-le-Street Town but the journey home would have flown by after a late rally saw them win 2-1. Scott Emmerson had given the hosts an early lead and that's how it stayed until the final quarter-of-an-hour when strikes from James Walker and Darren Erskine set up a tie at home to Jarrow Roofing Bolden CA. and, a 49th-minute Alex Steadman goal saw Long Eaton United conquer visitors Nuneaton Griff, 1-0, and will now go to Hinckley Downes in the next round.
South Normanton Athletic and Lincoln Moorlands Railway, however, have had to wave goodbye to competition. Athletic were beaten 3-0 at Central Midlands side Dunkirk in what can be considered a big shock. Reports say that the home side thoroughly deserved their victory with a Scott Pratt goal and a brace from Neil Thompson all in the first half sending them through.
Railway, meanwhile, lost disappointingly 4-1 at home to Ely City with two goals from Robbie Mason and one each from Lee James and Simon Warren for the visitors.
