The Blues fell from the heights of success with their win over Winterton to the depths of despair in a matter of a few days against unbeaten Glapwell at Grange Park.
The Blues were still without Captain Mickey Allsop and to make matters worse,Josh Watts, his understudy, failed a late fitness test so that meant Danny Chambers partnering Matt Hallam with Danny Beldham slotting in to the right back position.
The visitors looked lively from the start, with ex Blues Aarron Brady looking sharp and the experienced Willis Francis looking comfortable in midfield. Glapwell went ahead on 9min when a poor corner by Nathan Hollingworth wasn’t cleared and centre half Ian Streather fired the loose ball past the stranded Steve Smith in the Blues goal.
The Blues began to get their game together with Scott Downie and Alex Steadman working well together and on 22min visiting keeper Neil West did well to hold a Danny Beldham cross with Steadman challenging. The Blues were caught out at the back in the 28th minute when Smith was drawn off his line by Ian Brown who crossed for Brady to scramble the ball over the line at the near post.
5 min later Glapwell went further ahead when Hollingsworth was allowed to go unchallenged and he fired a rising shot from 28yds past keeper Smith. Worse was to come with Matt Varley heading in a long Hollingworth free kick unchallenged after Matt McCall had fouled Steve Roebuck.

The Blues raised their game in the second half with McCall having a header blocked and Steadman shooting narrowly wide but it was the visitors who went further ahead on 70 min through Matt Hallam o.g , glancing a Micheal Fox cross past keeper Smith and it was the unlucky Hallam who deflected a Ian Brown shot past Smith after good work by Brady to make it 6-0 to the visitors and inflict the Blues worst defeat for some time. Sadly, too many players were well below par against a very good Glapwell side who on this showing must surely be in the top three at the end of the season.
