Long Eton United ladies travelled to Arnold Town this weekend and put on an inept performance. Long Eaton took the lead after 15 minutes, when a great Kirsty Gibbson on the turn cross was into the back of the net by Jodie Hancock. From the resulting restart, Arnold went straight down to the other end and only brave goal keeping from Hopewell kept Long Eaton in front.
After a period of sustained Arnold pressure and lapse defending by Robinson & Zaborowski, Let an Arnold forward into score. Then again on 32minutes more slack defending allowed the same forward to pick her spot in the Long Eaton goal.
In the second half Long Eaton pushed forward and applied some pressure on the Arnold side and from a resulting corner Gibbons equalised. From the resulting center kick Zaborowski lost the ball on the half way line, which was picked by a Arnold forward who went down the line and cut into the box after beating 3 tackles as if they were not there and put the ball in the back of the net. Arnold went 4 – 2 up when more pathetic defending gifted them with their 4th goal.
Final score 4 – 2
Kevin Hancock not having much to say this week only commented with the follow; “We made things hard for ourselves, we gave the goals away with childish mistakes”
