Long Eaton United Ladies entertained Asforby this weekend and after a run of poor results Long Eaton went behind after 18 minutes. Long Eaton came back into the game and started to play better football and equalised on 25 minutes when Jodie Hancock burst through from midfield and scored with a great right footed chip.
Long Eaton was beginning to take charge in midfield with Armstrong, Jones and Hancock winning every tackle. On 33 minutes Sarah Harrison ran onto a Chloe Maddan through ball and knocked the ball past the Asforby keeper.
The second half was a scrappy affair with neither side looking like scoring, but on 75 minutes Long Eaton put together a good move featuring Hancock and Harrison who setup Marie Walker for her first goal for the club. Long Eaton could have scored more towards the end except for good defending by Asforby.
Manager Kevin Hancock said “We were still not at our best, but with a change of formation seemed to work and the whole side put in plenty of effort, which has been missing in previous weeks. We travel to Corby next week which could decided the league title”
