LONG EATON:- White, Chambers, McGinty, Allsop,(McCall60) Watts, Stryzewski, Buckley,Parker, Bonnick,(Downie 62), Steadman(North 62), Fowkes
The Blues welcomed back Graham Fowkes after injury but were without Adam Newton(injured),Danny Chambers deputizing.
With a strong wind blowing across the pitch, Parkgate were the first to show with Johnson having a shot comfortably saved by keeper Wayne White. The Blues took the lead with their first attack when Alex Steadman was brought down on the edge of the areaby Robert Moorwood, erning himself a booking ,and from the resulting free kick Marc Stryzewski fired in a low shot past the despairing fingers of keeper David Rattcliffe. With the Blues now on top and playing some good football, Ratcliffe saved well from Steadman but on 21 min he could not deny Steadman a second time when the latter latched onto a slide rule pass by Stryzewski to side step the keeper and fire into an empty net to make it 2-0 In the blustery conditions the Blues were playing good football with Mickey Buckley outstanding Parkgate went close with a Gavin Allott header just over before the Blues had penalty appeals turned down by referee Dudley when Steadman was blatantly knocked off the ball in the area by Moorcroft.

The Blues increased their lead In the 47th min with a fine headed goal by Steadman, neatly heading home after a good cross by Buckley. The Blues made a triple substitution, bring on Scott Downie,Channan North and Mat McCall and it was Downie who increased the lead, getting the final touch after a jinking run and shot was only parried by keeper Ratcliffe. There was no let up by the Blues and Buckley was again the provider, with an excellent cross which sub Channon North glancing a header past the outstretched hands of keeper Ratcliffe into the bottom corner to seal an emphatic win and help to bury the dissapointment of last week’s defeat at Glapwell.
