Long Eaton United Ladies Long Eaton United Ladies travelled to Corby for a top of the table clash and suffered a 1 nil defeat which sent Corby to the top with a 1 point lead over Long Eaton.
Corby started brighter and it was Cairo Hopewell who kept Long Eaton in the game with some good saves. This was mainly a half of few chances with both midfields equalling each other out. It was not until 33 minutes with the Long Eaton calling for offside, the Corby forward raced through and fired home.
Long Eaton went in search of an equaliser and had their best spell of the half when carly Hayes hit a screamer from 30 yards and hit the bar.
In the second half neither side created any clear cut chances, neither keeper was test as each side cancelled each other out. Long Eaton now go into next week’s game against Hinckley needing a point to be sure of runners up.
