Glyn Stacey and Mark Harvey have been confirmed as the new management team at Long Eaton United.
The duo bid farewell to South Normanton Athletic, who are in danger of folding if they fail to find a new committee to run the club next season they will replace Craig Weston, who quit Grange Park last month.
Stacey previously managed Long Eaton for more than three years before leaving in July 2005. He rejoins the Blues having resolved his differences with chairman Jim Fairley. "I had my problems with the chairman last time around but that has all been sorted out now," said Stacey. "There was a breakdown in communication but that was three years ago. We have all moved on now."
"We are very pleased to have Mark on board and happy that Glyn is coming back too," said Fairley. "We have both moved on since he was here before and there are no grudges. The two of them have a good record of attracting players and the lads at South Normanton can't speak highly enough of them.
Bryan Webster has taken on the role of Senior Liason Officer and his job will be to oversee the running of the senior teams. Webster said "we spent a lot of money last season although this was never mentioned. The first thing I will be doing is applying for promotion and then there can be no excuses"
With regard to ambition later in the season.
Stacey and Harvey's target now is to achieve promotion from the Northern Counties East Premier Division to the UniBond League. "In my eyes, Long Eaton is one of the best clubs in this area," said Harvey. "Everything is in place to push forward. Our aim is to take the club into the UniBond League and I can't wait for next season to start now."
Fairley added: "I would love to get there next season but that would be an unfair target to set. Realistically, they might need a year to have a look at the club but if we are in the mix by around November, we will have a good push for it.
We would like to thank South Normanton for their support in allowing Mark and Glyn to come to us and in particular Pete Kane. We are all hoping that we are still going to be able to play them next season and some help will come their way."
Stacey and Harvey admitted they were both sad to be leaving South Normanton. "I am hoping they will keep going in some form as the club has been brilliant to us," said Stacey. "We had two good years there but had taken them as far as they could go."
