  ASHLEY WHELEHAN GOALKEEPER

A 16 year old signing from local football who has impressed during pre-season and was called on to make his debut against Arnold Town this season. He did very well and kept a clean sheet helping us earn a 1 – 0 victory which took us to the top of the table. Needs to keep working hard and learning but looks a great prospect.
danny-chambers.jpg   DANNY CHAMBERS DEFENDER D.O.B. 22/12/88

Danny has made the big step up from youth football at Long Eaton to become a regular first team player which is a credit to his attitude and maturity. Physically capable and hardworking Danny has made the right back spot his own after Sam Carter left for Shepshed Dynamo last season...... and done a terrific job for us.

  PAUL McGINTY DEFENDER D.O.B. 15/9/79

Paul is a left sided player with an amazing engine and a true competitor. Guaranteed to get to the byline several times a game the biggest problem for the management is keeping the reigns on their left sided full back but his attitude and commitment are a vital part of Long Eaton United.
micky-allsop.jpg   MICKY ALLSOP DEFENDER D.O.B. 27/12/79

Mick is a simply a great centre half......commanding in the air, a good tackler and can play a bit too ! Previously with Burton Albion and Belper Town, Mick's experience and presence are invaluable to Long Eaton United. He's struggled with injury in previous seasons but this term seems to be going well for him after a good pre-season.

Micky's Spotlight
matt-hallam.jpg   MATT Hallam DEFENDER D.O.B. 28/1/86

Matt is a product of Long Eatons Junior teams and has progressed through the reserves. Introduced to the first team squad last season Matt is developing into an assured centre half who does the basic things well and makes the right decisions. He's now a first team regular and still learning but has put in consistently good performances last season.
jim-hewson.jpg   JIM HEWSON DEFENDER

A hard working, hard tackling defender who is in his second spell with Long Eaton United. Jim is a good communicator and competitor to have in our squad but he has unfortunately broken a cheekbone in pre-season and is presently recovering having had 3 ‘plates’ through surgery placed in his cheek.

Another local lad who over the last couple of seasons has made regular first team appearances. Ian's pace terrifies defenders. Still only 19, Ian's first team appearances have mainly been as a forward and his speed and good first touch have made him look a dangerous player in Northern Counties football. He's proved he scares defenders to death in our reserves.
